It has been estimated that about 2/3 of the adult population create New Year’s Resolutions at this time of year. Unfortunately the shocking reality is that approximately 92% of these resolutions are broken before the end of January!
Why? Well if you are one of those who constantly breaks their resolutions, stop beating yourself up! It is all brain science.
Rapid changes in your behavior, when pushed by your willpower and conscious thoughts, have very little chances of sticking, without some very specific and detailed preparations in your all of your brain (conscious and nonconscious) brain beforehand and as ongoing maintenance. Permanent change in the brain takes 28-90 days of regularly repeated efforts before you have created enough new DSP connections in your brain to change permanently the flow of neurode patterns into a new habit. Most people quit before they get this far.
You cannot change your life by trying to change your life! You must change your brain, and to do this requires changing your thoughts in very specific ways. But the good news is that you can learn to do this! For more information, check out my 1 hr radio show from 12/30/09, that you can hear “on demand” at this link ENJOY! And send me (or post!) your comments! http://bit.ly/8yYJBj
